Moses Small

Moses Leonzie Small Sr., affectionately known as “Lil Mose,” was born December 1, 1978 in Memphis, TN to the late Minister Moses Lee Small and Mable Small Bell. He was the 8th child of 13 children. Whether you knew him as husband, father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, friend, or neighbor; Moses was a joy to be around. He was a kind person with a big heart. There was never a dull moment in his presence; he was always the life of the party. Moses was a natural entertainer that could captivate any audience. Although he was multi-talented, Moses’ passion was singing. God anointed him to minister through song and by exercising that gift he touched many lives. That gift also opened the door for Moses to travel and sing with different groups. Moses was indeed a dynamic singer and we will miss hearing his voice. Moses was preceded in death by his father and his sister, Marsha Wilson-Collier. He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and was baptized in Jesus name at First Pentecostal Apostolic Church. Moses and his family later joined Apostolic Fellowship Church (AFC) in 2010. It was at the AFC that Moses was filled with the Holy Ghost. Moses was united in holy matrimony to his high school sweetheart, Nakia Patterson in 2010. Over a span of 25 years, they always experienced life together; the good and the bad. Moses was a sweet man with a good sense of humor who really loved his family. He departed this life on Tuesday, February 14, 2023. Moses leaves to cherish his memory a loving wife of 14 years Mrs. Nakia Small; 5 sons - Martavius (Jada) Jones of SC, Jourdan Patterson, Jarvis Small, Moses Small II, Moshun Caradine; 2 daughters - Kamaya Small, Khamari Slaughter, 1 grandson - Kaeden Perkins-Jones ; 7 brothers – Michael Small, James Smith, Deangelo Small, Shannon (Jaida) Small, Shawn (Jessica) Head, Dion Head, Otis (Jasmine) Valentine; 6 sisters – Robin Small, Rosalyn Small, Erica Small, Hope Small, Virginia Small, Ivy Holmes; 3 Brother in Laws - Robert (Kaelia) Patterson of OK., Frank (Alicia) Bowdery, Lucas Bowdery of Memphis, TN.; 2 Sister in Laws - Latasha Patterson, Jessica Bowdery of Memphis, TN.; In-Laws - William (Bobbie) Bowdery; 3 God brothers – Chance Roberson, Patrick Roberson and Willie (Toe) Roberson II; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
