Rosie Lee

Ms. Rosie Lee was born to Ms. Myrtle Ward and George Ward in Memphis, Tennessee, on July 14, 1953. Rosie Lee was the youngest and only daughter of Myrtle and George. Her brother, George Ward Jr., preceded her in death as well as her mother and father. Rosie Lee grew up in North Memphis. She attended Douglass High School. While she was in high school, she enjoyed being a majorette. Her good friend, Elaine, introduced her to Thomas “Tippy” Lee in high school. Shortly after receiving her high school diploma, she and Tippy tied the knot and were expecting their first born daughter, Tangey Marquette Lee, in 1972. Two years later, their second born daughter, Sabrina Lee-Jackson, was born. Rosie Lee pursued a nursing degree at Baptist School of Nursing where she received her R.N. (registered nurse) degree. After she completed her R.N., she worked at St. Jude, Extended Care and Kirby Pine for many years. She retired from Brookdale in 2022, working as a sitting attendant. She truly enjoyed caring for others, working in the medical/healthcare field for over 50 years. Rosie Lee and Tippy have been married for 52 years; in addition to their two beautiful daughters, they have a stepdaughter, Katrina Cobb Lee and four loving grandchildren, Mark Lee (Amecia Lee), Brittany Lee, Marial Lenoir, and Alex Lenoir. Mark has a son, DeMarkeio Lee Campbell. Brittany has two daughters, Nahla Sky Allen and Navi Rose Gaines. Rosie Lee also has a god-daughter, Fallon Laine Dickson who she took good care of as an infant through her youth. Fallon has grown up to be a beautiful and enterprising young woman. She has a business in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Rosie Lee instilled so many great values in her children and grandchildren. She valued her family life and believed working hard was the ingredient to success. She enjoyed retirement with the love of her life, Tippy, and their grandchildren and great-grands. She also enjoyed shopping, cooking and playing with her little fur babies (shih tzu) Daisy and Scrappy. Rosie Lee was down to earth, humble and always gave much more than she received. She truly lived a life of service. Her infectious smile, loving and caring spirit will truly be missed.
