Anita Marie Woods

June 1, 1967 - April 3, 2022

Anita Marie Sloan Woods was born June 1, 1967, to Wilford Roy and Vergie Mae Sloan. Anita passed peacefully with her husband, Perry Woods. Anita accepted Christ at an early age, re-dedicated her life during her marriage, and was a member of Bloomfield Baptist Church. Anita had a fun spirit and loved to make others laugh, she could sing and loved to dance, but what she enjoyed most was spending time with her two grandchildren, Mason and Erin. Anita was a compassionate caregiver and made a lasting impression on anyone she met. Anita grew up in the Beltzhoover neighborhood in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where she attended the Public School System and graduated from South Hills High School. She also attended college in Pittsburgh and here in Memphis. Anita is survived by her two daughters, Erica Lynn Lee and Mariah Shanice Lee; two grandchildren, Mason Gentry and Erin Herrington; five siblings, Patricia Sloan Belyeu, Milford Roy Sloan (Sharon), Debra Sloan, Carole Sloan Moyer and Dawn Sloan Garmon (Larry); sisters-in-law, Fannie Woods, Marilyn Catron, and Earnestine (Darrell) Hollimon; brother-in-law, Earl Jr. (Lula); and several nieces and nephews. Her parents, Wilford Roy and Vergie Mae Sloan, and five siblings, Michael Sloan, Dolores Yates, David Sloan, Denise Sloan and Malcolm Sloan, preceded her in death.
