Clover Dell “Smiley” McGee, 81, of Memphis, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, August 10, 2021, at St. Francis Hospital. Clover was born on October 22, 1939, in Duck Hill, Mississippi, to Clarence McGee and Lenora Grantham. He was later raised by a loving step-mother, Rosie McGee. He accepted Christ at an early age. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence, Lenora and Rosie; his daughter, Sherry; his sisters, Laura, Mary, and Annie Mae; and his brothers, Donnie and LeVaughn. Clover found a passion for truck driving in his early years. This passion led to a career that lasted over fifty years. During this time, he earned recognition and awards for driving over two million miles, and ultimately the nickname “Smiley”. Clover had the opportunity to share his truck driving talent with the Byhalia Brick Company, Canners of Eastern Arkansas, and eventually retiring from Transport Service Company. Clover is survived by his wife, Annie whom he affectionately called “Ann”; his daughters, Clodetra McGee of Little Rock, Arkansas, Cassandra (Jerry) Pendleton-Leake of Memphis, Tennessee, and Stephanie McGee of Washington, DC; his son, Danny McGee of Detroit, Michigan; grandchildren, Mercedes (Mario) Spencer-Moreno, April Golatt, Christy Henry, Antwone Leake, Sherrod Leake, Anthony McGee, Stephatina McGee, and Ashanti Foster; great-grandchildren, Logan Golatt, London Golatt, and Jerrod Leake; two sisters, Barbara Boone of Memphis, Tennessee, and Billie Jean McGee of Kansas City, Missouri; seven brothers, Marvin McGee of Marion, Arkansas, Arthur (Kay) McGee of Dallas, Texas, Eddie McGee of Osceola, Arkansas, David McGee of Marion, Arkansas, Ricky McGee of Osceola, Arkansas, Johnny McGee of Miami, Florida, and Jackie McGee of Turrell, Arkansas; one sister-in-law, Willie Howard; two brothers-in-law, Jimmy Pendleton and Larry Pendleton, both of Memphis, Tennessee; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
