Eric J. Rogers Jr.

Mr. Eric John Rogers Jr., affectionately known as “Tubby”, was born on September 27, 1978, to his proud surviving parents, Eric Rogers Sr. and Mary Rogers-Wicks. Eric was the eldest of three children. Eric accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at the age of twelve at Unity Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. E. R. Dandridge. Eric worked various warehouse jobs as a machine operator since the age of twenty. Eric was an active boy scout leader from ages nine to seventeen. He was a proud alumnus of Fairley High School, Class of 1997. Eric was known as a great 3-point shooter on the Fairley High School boys’ basketball team, which earned him a full athletic scholarship to Tennessee State University in 1998. He really enjoyed playing basketball with family and friends at events. On many occasions, as he would shoot the ball in the basket, he would say, “Tubby World.” Eric received many trophies and awards from the game of basketball. On October 20, 2021, Eric departed from this life at the Regional One Health Medical Center. Eric is survived by his beloved parents, Eric Rogers Sr. and Mary Rogers-Wicks; one daughter, Raighan Elise Rogers; one sister, Tumira Wicks; one brother, Justin Wicks; one brother-in-law, Daniell Brooks; one niece, Taliyah P. Brooks; one step-brother, Corey Wicks; three close friends, Shennille Turner, Shamika Moton and Michael Harris; and a host of cousins and friends who love and will miss him dearly.
