Angela Grice

Angela Lorai Grice was the epitome of kindness and sweetness. She had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel loved and appreciated. Her gentle nature and caring spirit touched the lives of all who knew her. She is leaving behind a legacy of warmth and compassion. On January 23, 1973, in Memphis, TN, Angela was born to her young and excited parents, Marvin and Marva. Angela was fortunate to be raised not only by her loving parents but also her devoted grandparents. They all dedicated their lives to ensuring she received top notch elementary and secondary education. Under the guidance of her grandmother Bunch and the Christian based education at St. Luke’s Episcopal School, Angela was baptized at Temple of Deliverance. Her faith in God and love for family kept Angela rooted in South Memphis: on Blair Hunt Drive. The relationship Angela and Bunch shared was like the story of Ruth and Naomi – an example of loyalty, love, and resilience. Their bond was a profound testament to unwavering loyalty and love. Just as Ruth vowed to stay with Naomi, saying, “Where you go, I will go, and where you stay, I will stay,” Angela demonstrated this later as the roles were changed Angela never left her and became her caregiver until the end of her days and less than a year later, they are reunited. If you asked Angela about her greatest accomplishment, she would undoubtedly say it was giving birth to her pride and joy, Joshua. She loved celebrating his achievements: earning a college degree in Mathematical Sciences, a master’s degree in applied mathematics from the University of Memphis and pursuing a career in teaching mathematics. Angela was also blessed with her tried-and true love and soulmate of 14 years, Ervin Vaughn. Their love was strong and resilient; they always had each other’s backs. They loved to travel and try different foods. Angela loved sharing their journey on Facebook. An extra blessing was that Ervin’s family embraced her and through this love, Angela gained another mother, Allene Monger, two sisters, Angel Monger and Menecca Parham, nieces KeKe and Lady, and nephew Kavan. She leaves behind the Loves of her life Ervin, son Joshua, and father Marvin (Teresa), devoted aunt Estella “Stella” Preer, uncle L.Q. Grice Jr., cousins Tina Houston, Shannon and Dallas Lee, Gregory Grice Jr. (Tranessa), Sonia Grice, April Grice Roberts (Henry), God sisters Brenda Smith Dubone, Tracy Carter, Brandy Thomas, and Adrienne Golston, God sons Antonio King and Shaquille Hall, two fur babies (Jax and Pinky), and a host of other relatives and friends. Preceding her in death was her mother Marva Martin, maternal grandparents Ozelia and M.T. Martin, her paternal grandfather L.Q. Grice who she affectionately called “Q”, and Grandmother Petty J. Grice who she affectionately called “Ma or Bunch.”
