Charles Boddie

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Charles Boddie, who departed this life on June 20, 2026, at the age of 75, after a courageous battle with several health conditions. Charles was born on March 16, 1951, in the vibrant city of Memphis, TN, to the late Samuel and Vera Boddie. He was a charismatic soul whose warmth and humor left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege to know him. Charles was a beacon of joy and laughter, forever armed with a joke to lighten any mood. His innate ability to make everyone feel welcome was a testament to his generous spirit and kind heart. His life was a symphony of compassion and love, touching countless lives along his journey. Charles dedicated his professional life to his passion for automobiles, working as a self-employed auto mechanic. His shop was not only a place of work but a community hub where friendships flourished over the shared love of cars. His work was his pride, and he was known for his skill, integrity, and a handshake that sealed many a deal. Outside of work, Charles found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid lover of blues music, finding solace and rhythm in its soulful melodies. Weekend trips to the casino were a cherished pastime, where he embraced the thrill of chance and the camaraderie of fellow players. Fishing offered him moments of peace and reflection amidst nature's beauty. Charles was a devoted family man, cherished by his surviving children: sons Cedric Owens, Larry Jeffery Sr., and Jarvis Bradford, and daughters Mary Boddie and Joslyn Robinson. Also cherished, by his son LeCharles Boddie whom preceded him in death. He was a proud grandfather to thirteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, who will carry forth his legacy of love and laughter. He was blessed with a large family, having six sisters and four brothers, surviving siblings: Leon, Vivian, and Carolyn. Preceding him in death are his parents: Samuel and Vera Boddie. Four sisters: Lovell, Chestine, WillieRuth and Diane. Three brothers: Larry, Sam Jr and Melvin. Charles is now reunited with them in eternal peace. He also leaves to cherish a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In remembrance of Charles, his family offers a poignant message: "Forever in our hearts." His legacy of kindness, laughter, and love will continue to inspire those who knew him. May he rest in peace, knowing he has left a world kinder and brighter for having been in it.
