Rashod LaShun Thompson Sr.

Rashod LaShun Thompson, Sr. was born into this world on August 10, 1979 in Memphis, Tennessee to Jacquelin D. (Summers) Applewhite and Benny L. Thompson. Rashod attended Memphis City Schools and was a 1997 graduate of Kirby High School. He continued his education at Southwest Community College and managed several Captain D’s restaurants prior to moving to Rome, Georgia where he worked as a construction operative for VT Industries. In true Rashod fashion of helping others, he moved back to Memphis to care for family members. Rashod is a consummate son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, friend, and beloved father. He is a man of much depth. At his core he’s a father above all else that devotes himself to his children. Rashod imparts life-skills and attributes that would make his children formidable citizens in this world. Rashod has a humble spirit; he passed that attribute to his son Rashod and it’s an infectious characteristic that is easily conveyed to anyone who had the honor of meeting him. Rashod is a masterful artist, and he share those skills with his daughter, Naja who also shares her gift with the world just as her father instilled in her. As a father to Quaterius and Donte’, Rashod’s intent was to make a positive impact on their lives. Rashod shares his wisdom, kindness, comedy, and love with all who encountered him. Rashod values honesty and always believe in standing up for what’s right and his own convictions. He never back down for what’s right. Rashod garnered the respect of so many that he met, whether it be co-workers, people in the community, or family and friends. His personality is undeniable as he always wanted to help those around him and keep them smiling. Rashod also enjoys collecting unique knives and swords that he proudly displayed and shared the history of to anyone that would listen. In a world where people try to portray themselves as what others think they should be, Rashod was always Rashod – kind-hearted, hard-working, funny, loving Rashod. Rashod leaves to cherish his memories, son Rashod L. Thompson, Jr. (Germany), daughter, Naja K. Thompson (Des Moines, IA), two young men he raised as his own, Quaterius D. Shaw and Donte’ T. Boyd (both of Memphis, TN), mother, Jacquelin Applewhite (Memphis, TN), father, Benny Thompson (Las Vegas, NV), as well as three brothers, Rickey T. Summers (Memphis, TN), Jarvis L. (Maureen) Applewhite, Sr. (Virginia), and Edmond T. Applewhite (Memphis, TN). Rashod also leaves a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends to cherish his memory.
